whilst clearing up today, there were some locks from problem solving Chubb engineers , which whilst not really collectable or original, are interesting from a safe engineers point of view, they obviously couldn’t get old kroma novums at one time so grafted in a 6k75 lock into a novum body and also an escutcheon and combination dial made into locking keyhole covers to give dual control.

sorting through an old Garage that is full to the brim and hasn’t been touched in a while, a lot of it is bog standard stuff, but hopefully there maybe some nice finds in there.
Some nice Chatwood stems of a design I haven’t seen before, and some nice Milners stems.

I am just wondering if there is somebody, somewhere, worrying about where they can possibly find a replacement Milner stem- or something else that you have got there. I bet there is.

A Chubb 6k18 lock with a lightweight aluminium bolt, seen a lightweight Isolator 6k174 keylock before, but not this one.

Chubby, there is more work and detail in those stems than there is in most modern locks nowadays, they are a joy to behold. We don’t tend to see many Milners that use loose bits and stems in my neck of the woods.
It makes me wonder if there are any modern locks that people will bother to collect now it is all mass produced.

Gary that unit looks similar to the Worrall systems that Midland Banks used on their main entrance doors many years ago, the Worrall’s we saw always had rack and pinion drive though, and not a follower cam like your one. They were a pain as they were half embedded in the doors and often clad with bronze or stainless. Yours is clearly a different type though.

Your stuff just keeps getting better….love that Chatwood detachable bit, never seen one even remotely like that!

I like the work and craftsmanship that went into those old stems, turned up these today that are a more modern version of the Milners type stems, in this case to suit s&g key op locks, but whereas the Milners stems withdraw the clamping part of the stem into the housing internally, the modern version is just a threaded collar on the outside of the stem.

found one of what I call the lightweight isolator keylocks ,6k174, don’t see very many of these and the 6k18 version shown previously is the only one I have seen of that type, if anyone has any info on these, it would be appreciated.

I have some very similar step height checkers for both new and old lever 3g114’s where one side are all at the upper tolerance and the other side are all at the lower tolerance
