Seeing Gary’s photos of the chubb and yours of the tann cashpoint safes with vertical drop boltwork is a blast from the past for me.
Probably worked on more of the Chubb’s than Tann’s but had pretty much forgotten about them as it wasn’t regular work back then. Always wondered about the vertical boltwork as they were so different to everything else.
Never got any answers though, so what an unexpected surprise to find out all these years later!🙁y):

Time is finally asserting itself on my general situation resulting in two doses of pills per day. My Partner Judith is looking after everything. I sold my car, caravan, and little cottage in Portsoy now that I am no longer mobile.
My day is spent in my chair and what keeps me going is my laptop.
The Forums have been very quiet recently. I may have mentioned to you at the outset that when I retired I didn’t want my lifetime experience in this safe business to just vanish. My websites must be rather stale by now. The preceding few years involved such as the Museum and talks around the country, involvement with
the Police including my little circus of demonstrations with all the current tools from Lance to Gelignite. It has really been the burglary and breaking side that has been the most interesting.
In addition there are little episodes such as the Titanic. No Huw, I’m not a submariner but got drawn into the picture by a phone call one afternoon in Tanns asking for information about a Perry Safe. Nothing unusual as I’Ds were a daily request, but this one was on the Ocean floor among the debris field of the sunken wreck. Would I be prepared to open this safe in front of a World-Wide TV Audience in Monte Carlo?
