You got me looking closely at this Chubb now wylk- I hadn’t noticed the locks!
Difficult to tell- the 2 on the right do look to stand out a bit further, but is it just the slight perspective of the angle of the photo?
Chubb did often fit 4 combo locks on the big doors like this one, but generally offered whatever choice the customer wanted, so key locks would presumably have been an option as well. Wouldn’t want to carry the stems for those around on my bunch of keys lol.
I can remember seeing an old tv documentary which showed a quick glimpse of a Bank Of England door where they stored counterfeit bank notes returned by all the nation’s bank branches. Surprised to see it had dual key locks on that with stems about 3 foot long! It was an old but impressive rectangular door- Chatwood I think.
With the ‘step-less’ plug doors, you got me looking closely back at those as well-
The Chubb that Nicko50 posted is a totally step-less taper, whereas the York Cleveland Fed door has a single step defining where the locking bolts project. I always assumed there would be a matching step at the back of the frame to meet this, or is the step only on the door? Either way I guess on a door that size and fit there wasn’t much reason to worry about anything- least of all a 6 foot long hack-saw attack down the gap- sawing through each of the bolts in turn lol 🙁shake):
