Prior to this, there was indeed discussion and nice images of Sydney doors in a thread here: http://www.antique-locks.com/showthread.php/2800-York-Round-Bank-Door?highlight=york+round+bank+door in which there are two doors mentioned: a 30-ton door, and a 25-ton door. It was also stated “This second door made a year later was only 25 ton supplied to a different bank”. But the locations were not stated. I had suspected the locations were the then-headquarters of Commonwealth at 5 Martin Place, and/or State Saving Bank Building at 48 Martin Place (1928, http://www.emporis.com/buildings/170492/commonwealth-bank-sydney-australia) and used by Commonwealth until 2012.
I’m willing to believe the 25-ton door being unloaded in the dockside image is one of the doors previously discussed in the other thread. Since the media presentation talks about a 30-ton door at 48 Martin Place, the 25-ton door appears to be elsewhere but my thinking it’s at 5 Martin Place is speculation.
P.S. the presentation claims the 30-ton door is “still the second largest in the world” which I think is wildly inaccurate. Perhaps second-largest in Australia, but not the world.
