This is the message I got back from the Spring Man in England. They have recently changed makers so they are looking into a new order.
“If you recall when we first looked at quoting for your order, the unit cost was very high and this is mainly because of the difficulty in sourcing the right material in a sensible quantity. I fear that whilst we will have no problem finding another small independent spring maker to do this for us, the issue is going to be price. However, we have a chap we can approach and we will give him your original sample to take a look at next week, but I am concerned that a further production run on these springs may be cost prohibitive and feel it only fair to warn you and your contact of that. However, we will see what we can do and I will get back to you on that as soon as I can.”
So that seems to be the deal. I suggest you speak directly with Fiona at The Spring Man, since you are looking to make the order.
