Recently I purchased a used lock made by “Johnson Automobile Lock Co. St. Louis, , U.S.A”. Under the maker’s company and locaton is the word “CLAWLOK”. Yes, I spelled it correctly… “CLAWLOK”.
The lock weighs about 5 pounds and is keyed with a Sargent key. When unlocked a bolt (about ½″ in diameter) can be rotated to loosening or close the jaws of the claw lock. When the key is removed from the lock a weather cover automatically covers the keyway.
I don’t know the age of this lock and I am not sure if it was an “after market” item sold to the general public or if it came as standard equipment on some automobiles. I would regard it as very good condition, probably retaining at least 98% of its original condition.
Any information would be helpful and appreciated.
