Jerod I got this safe from a building in downtown Fargo, North Dakota - USA. The foreman in charge of the renovation project in this building told me if I take it out, I could have it. They had already removed it from the wall, just hadn’t taken it out of the building. I thought it was really cool, and am not all that concerned about the value of it, but would like to know a bit more about it, and have a general idea of a value just out of curiosity. I have multiple pictures of this, some more detailed than others. I will only put up a few, unless you guys want to see more.
Doug MacQueen Well the price was certainly a fair one. Actually you got a really good deal in that it was already removed for you. These are typically referred to as thin plate vault doors and in your case, with vestibule. Yours is probably late 1800’s or early 1900’s. I know of numerous cases where there are installed in houses, basements and upper floors in that they are quite light weight. But give very good protection when compared to standard wood doors with deadbolt locks. If you are going to use it, have your local safe guy add a good relocking device to it. As to value, compare it in price to a modern security door and that will give you an idea. Doug
