Hi, I have a Star Lock Works brass, lever, crab style padlock, patented March 1870 and stamped as such. Patent # 100402, invented by Louis Hillebrand when he and Wolf first owned the company in 1870. When it is opened there is a capital X on the back side of the opened part of the shackle. Oldbiscuit-Mark has a picture of a lock just like mine in Keys under Key Hunting by Reba729. There is no rust on mine but on the front it looks like someone hit it with a ball-pein (sp) hammer, little dings. Other than that it seems to me it is in very good condition and doesn’t look like it has a lot of use on it. Have 2 keys that open it, not original. Most of the ones I have seen on-line are newer than mine and in much worse condition. Seen values from $20 to $140. Wondering where mine falls? Reba729–Becky Clark
