I am a padlock collector from Lancaster, PA. I am currently researching a book on the padlock companies of Lancaster. I have tons of info about the Fraim lock companies. 1879 Fraim and Bros (also Keystone Lock Works) - Edward T (E T) Fraim, Parker K Fraim and Miller W Fraim. In about 1890 MW and PK left to form Lancastwer Silver Plate Co. Sons Walter E and Samuel R entered the business, and took over upon ET’s death in 1917. However, by 1920 Samuel bought out Walter. Within ayear Walter bought a major interest in Slaymaker Lock Co, and formed Fraim-Slaymaker Hardware Co. This was in direct competition with brother Samuel’s company! Samuel R’s oldest son Samuel E joined Fraim in his fathers business. Edward T Fraim II followed in 1933. The lock company ended about 1959. I have no information on descedndents of ET II nor of Samuel E. I would welocme any info on descendents or on the lock companies.

According to Locks and Lockmakers of America, revised third edition, by Thomas F. Hennessy; the E.T. Friam Lock Co. of Lancaster, PA was in business from 1879-1955 when it was sold to Safe Lock & Hardware Co., also of Lancaster, PA which was subsequently closed in 1981 by then parent Emhart Corp.*
*this last fact from my own research
