wardrobe trunk lock

looking for a date on when this lock was made. The lock is located on the top drawer of an old wardro trunk, not sure who manufactured the trunk, but the lock was made by eagle lock company and has the marking 81M1 on it. If anyone has any idea when this lock was manufactured I might be able to find out who the trunk maker was. Any help would be great. Thanks.

The Eagle Lock Co was in business from the 1830’s until around 1975. They made locks for many furniture, trunk, suitcase, etc. manufacturers during those years. I doubt that identifying the lock will help you much. If you search for Eagle Lock trunk lock you will find that there are many new old stock locks still for sale today, close to 35 years after they went out of business.
