can anyone date this old lock for me

I have this ancient latch rimlock, all wrought iron and quite heavy. I would love to know how old it is and if there is any history to it.
It has a beautiful lever operated latch and a seperate sliding bolt, both latch and bolt have delicate forged coil springs to return them.

I have seen similar designs but about half the size. In fact I have one and it was purported to be from Germany around the 1700’s. I would say yours is likely earlier, maybe 1600’s. German with a little French influence on the lever. BTW, you got quite a bargain. You can find a similar xample at the link.
