Newbie here with an old pad lock and key, looking for info

Hello, I’ve just recently come across what I believe is a railroad padlock and key aproximately 100 years old. It has a W stamped on one side of the keyhole and a B on the other. I am hoping that someone may be able to tell me about it. I’ve taken a couple of pics that I hope to post here. If you can tell me anything about it, I’d really appreciate it.

That padlock is a Wilson Bohannan thus the WB. I doubt it was a railroad lock as most if not all RR locks had the railroad name or initials stamped or cast on them. WB started in 1860 in Brooklyn NY and moved to Marion OH in 1926 and are still in business today. Here’s a WB website that might give you a little history on the company. there are more stampings on it that I didn’t mention yet… both the key and the hasp have “MRR” stamped on them. On the front of the hasp it has a “115” and a word above it, but I can’t tell what it says, not even sure if that word is english.

I appreciate your help and am going to check out that link you gave me.

Well that is a model 115 lock made by the Wilson Bohannan Company for the MRR. Now the question becomes when did the MRR exist? Who were they?

As this article would suggest there were more than one MRR.

thank you Halflock, I’ve also been told that MRR might stand for Manistee RR. My guess is we’ll never know for sure.
