coverts- briggs safe lock

Hi, does anyone know the manufacturer of this safe door. It has a Covert-Briggs safe lock. Was this an exclusive lock to any safe builder? thanks rich

Most likely a Briggs safe. Briggs also made safes for Bacon of Boston. The Rochester NY company was in business for quite a few years starting in the 1850’s I think and up into the 1870’s 0r 80’s. The Covert Briggs combination lock seems to have reached maturity around 1865 so your safe would be sometime after that date. Nice safe. Is this the only safe you have? The reason I ask is that I notice your just down the road. Doug

Well it would have to be a 100 as the wheel pack in the picture is numbered that way. It wouldn’t work well if it had a 200 dial on a 100 wheel pack.
