Ace dead lock and Gibbons key.

Can anybody help me to solve a mystery. I have an old handmade Ace 4 lever double action dead lock, the key that I have that fits this is quite an ornate one and is made by Gibbons of Wolverhampton and has the letter B16 on one side as well. Can’t understand why it is an Ace Lock and a Gibbons key. Any ideas?

It may be as simple as someone used a Gibbons key and modified it to fit the lock in the past. A picture of the lock faceplate and key would help.

I thought that Gibbons branded some locks under “Ace”
Later on, Imperial/Guardian also used the name “Ace”

I have now added pictures of Gibbons key and Ace lock showing inside of lock, perhaps this will give someone more idea of the date it was produced.
