Old US Grant Hotel key

Found a old San Diego US Grant Hotel key and fob in my aunts belongings. Anyone have an idea what it might be worth?

A picture will help us. Unless it is a rare key or fob it might be worth nothing to a few bucks. But then once we see it…..

I cannot speak for the tag, but that key was never used in a hotel. It’s too simple, and too modern, plus being die-cast it would never have been durable enough for hard & constant use. It maybe that the two were just put together in the past.

Is there a number of other engraved marking on the tag ?

On the back of the fob it has room # 911 and also states if you take the key with you, you can drop it in the mailbox for delivery back to the hotel.

I must agree that the key is die cast and very unlikely to have been used in that hotel. The hotel was opened in 1910 and is described as a collection hotel. Had they used lever locks when the hotel was opened they would have been much more complex than that key. The tag however may be genuine.

Thank you both for your help. I’ve had this key and fob in a box for a couple of years and thought I should try and find out about it. Thinking of puting it in a frame and hang it on the wall.
