ID of cell lock

Does anyone know who manufactured the cell lock that this key works, it was in France, but may not be French.

Those are interesting keys, Gary.

I am unable to identify the manufacturer of the lock, but did find that these locks are used at Brest prison in France.

Just when you think you’ve seen it all !
unusual design with those half round scoops and on such a large key bit turning the plug within a separate cylinder.
A good way of achieving the level of security combined with oversized and heavy duty keys and components.
Like yourself Gary i worked on a lot of our chubb custodial locks and experienced first hand the sort of abuse and attempted demolition they have to withstand! Those steel keys certainly look beefy.

Well done finding the name of the lock, Gary. I did my best but came up empty handed.

It certainly is an unusual design, I wish I could find more information regarding the mechanism of the lock.

It is difficult to be sure from images alone, but the design also seems to make for relatively easy removal of foreign objects inserted into the keyway, which is another great advantage for any lock used in a custodial setting.
