Hi my name is Richard Callaghan.
I started my career training as an apprentice joiner and cabinet maker in 1986. After this, I trained as a locksmith as I found that it was a rewarding and satisfying career move which I enjoyed and still do to this day. I learnt my locksmithing skills during the period from 1996 to 2001 training under a master locksmith namely Tom Steel of Steels locksmiths Hull,East Yorkshire. Tom was the first Master locksmith in Hull and began trading in 1979. He encouraged me to join the Master locksmith association and I have been a member for many years.
After working for other Locksmiths in the area I became despondent traveling around the country for commercial customers. Clicking their fingers and expecting you on site yesterday was not for me at this time in my life. Also having to walk around city centres with heavey tools bags, trying to get parked and hoping that your vechile does not get broken into made me realize that I do not want to do this type of work.
I decided to open my own company in 2020 and work part time only. Forget about unreliable electronic locks I very rarely do these now, preferring to work soley on antique safes and locks which is something I love to do.
