George William Wilcox Manufacturing Co., Middletown, CT - Does anyone know how they sign? Is is “Wilcox Mfg. Co.” or something else?
Paul Prescott The large padlock in the advertising area is just Wilcox, that may not be the norm though.
George I have no information on them beyond a single patent for a smokey. Do you know if they manufactured any scandi locks?
Dean Nickel http://www.lockmuseum.com/hennessy.htm Listed under Chapter 5 William Wilcox & Co. At least you can get the book to tell you more.
Billy B Edwards Jr. CML IIRC, I have seen locks with W.W.Co. on the drop, some with W.W. & Co. on the drop and once saw one with a single W on the drop which I was told was a Wilcox. I think there are a few in the Arnall book but haven’t had time to look. BBE.
George Thanks for that WW Co tip. I’ll look into that further. I passed on the Scandi that I was watching. It had a Wilcox Mfg. Co. key, but you know how those Scandi keys go. It may have been a ground blank from Wilcox. Tough to tell via a picture. Thanks again.
