Cary Safe Identification / Value

Hi there,

I am a new member here and I am trying to determine the value and age of this safe that is for sale, as I am very interested in purchasing it… but the moving costs between the two locations is high, so I am determining whether it is good value after purchase price.

I really like old, antique, historical items and this safe fits the bill. The owner has original documentation and is the second owner. The safe has a working combination but may be without or without the interior lock box keys. I am told it weighs approximately 600lbs and its dimensions are 22″d x 21″w x 30″h. The serial number on the handle is Y50522.

Please let me know your thoughts on safe condition / value / opinions on this safe to help me make my decision.

Just look at nationwide Craigslist and you’ll see a very wide price range on these ‘older’ Cary safes. As low as $200 to $1500. Yes, it is a nice safe but just because it is old doesn’t mean it carries a high value.Pay what you feel comfortable to you. These safes were made by the thousands and they are not rare. Just my thoughts.
