WW II portable typewriter

Hi! Newby here!

I have lost the key to my father in laws typewriter he used during WW II. It was a key with a hollow part that also had one “flange” at the end, and was approx. 1-½″ total length, if I remember correctly. I have tried a few keys like this that I have, but the shafts were the wrong length. Can anyone help?

I actually looked at it closely again, and found it unlocked, just stuck! I was able to open it with a bit of persuasion, so I guess I no longer need a key. Thanks for responding. I had planned on photographing the lock, but we are packing to move, and I figured I could do it after we are settled.
