Safe Information

I now own a safe that I can not open, a family thing. I live in a very remote area and the cost of getting it open by a professional is beyond any expected benefits. I do not have the combination and if I did it is also complicated by the fact that the number disk has backed off of the dial. I have tried several “Try-out” combinations but this is complicated by the loose disk. I have not been able to locate any information on this specific safe, either a starting combination or a “weak point”. The name on the door is “ EO Martin & Bro –Safes –Norfolk Va.” And the number on the dial looks to be 28373C.

If it is a small safe you could take it to a lock/safe tech and they could work on it at there convenance. Some would give a discount for that. I don’t know the brand so I can’t say if it would be worth opening and repair. But from the sound of the name and the location I would say around 100 years old.
