Information about Lock and Key

I have a large lock and key. Key measures 9″ in length, lock is 7″ / 7″.
My late Father found the lock in his garden in the 1970’s.
I would like some information,origin, date and if they are of any value, would it be worth trying to sell them?

I contacted the forum some years ago regarding these items, but was unable at that time to access the site to find any replies.

German door lock circa 1700’s is my best guess. Having the key, if it operates, makes the value higher and I would expect it to sell between $300 -$400 on Ebay.
