Hi my names Steve. I live in london. Im a new collector of British Safe Plates. I look forward to reading the many threads here and hope to gain more knowledge in this field. I accidently came accross this hobby recently as Im building a pizza oven out of an old steel fuel bowser. I wanted to make it look old so I purchased 2 old victorian oven doors, then decided to find some old machine makers plate to screw in above the doors. I bought a plate from ebay , it was a brass F. Whitfield and co plate. When it arrived I was impressed with the whole plate and then looked on google/ ebay to see if there were other plates. My hobby was born 🙂

Welcome aboard. You are like myself in that I found that one thing and my collection started. Now 45 locks later I am still looking for the next lock while I restore the ones I have.
