My name is Allen. I am a machine enthusiast and a mechanical device collector. I don’t want to go into a long drawn out history, so I’ll just say that I am a Veteran, a gun and shooting enthusiast and hunter. I collect mechanical things from the 19th and early 20th Centuries. I have parts of a forge to get together for my own smithy, I have tools for several different areas of machine and mechanical work. I’m sure that’s nothing new for most of you.
I have recently been training as a locksmith and I have decided to more actively find old safes to collect and practice on. I started that particular collection yesterday with the purchase of a E.C. Morris Safe (1890-1896) that I will need to crack in order to find out if any thing’s in it. It has a MacNeale and Urban alphabetical dial, which I thought would be just like a numeric dial. I guess I was kind of correct.
So that’s how I ended up here. Searching for information on MacNeal and Urban safes.
