Paul Challoner I love this lock but I don’t have the combination. Does anyone have any tips to how I might get it open? I’m not a locksmith, just a collector but it appears that the lock has been tampered with, judging by the strange home-made square (ish) hole in one of the pins. What do you think?
Syd Waterman Hello Paul, Thought you would be interested in detail of the padlock as illustrated in Hobbs Hart & Co. catalogue issued in 1884. The price of 26/= was a lot of money then. Enjoy discovering the code for your padlock. BTW From your photographs it looks like the padlock has been tampered within the past.

Hi Syd, thanks for that, very interesting. I had a feeling that is had been tampered with. Is it the square hole and file marks over the pin that give it away? [unknown]
