Hi all
I am looking at purchasing this Chubb padlock for my collection. I am inclined to believe it is authentic, but am always a little sceptical when something is from India (that said, India was a British Colony, so makes sense a lot of Chubb looks would be from there).
There are two things that cause me a little unease about this lock.
Firstly, the coat of arms appears different to other Chubb locks i’ve looked at - i cannot make out a distinguishable shield.
Secondly, the stampings of the words are slightly angled, and ‘Chubb and Son’ has been stamped in the wrong place. It should come before ‘Makers To,’ not after. That could, however, be an honest mistake. And the lettering was not always stamped uniformly.
Is it possible to run the serial number for me and check it is authentic to this lock, and could i have opinions on the issues raised above.
Please see the attached photos.
Kind Regards
Dan
