MadJester Hello. I found this lock at a farm estate sale recently and I really love it, but I have no idea what it would go to. I think it might be a cabinet lock, but the shaft is quite long. It may have come from a doorbell, but I can not find it anywhere on the web. There is a piece that slides onto the shaft that looks like it might be the clapper to a bell. (positioned in the pic behind the lock). Along the top edge it reads ’Pat’d Dec 24 89′. I did find one similar on a salvage site, but they didn’t know what it was from either, and it didn’t have the word ‘Mackinaw’ on it like this one does. It is solid brass except for the inner workings, shaft and what I believe is the clapper (even the nut on the end is brass). Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Alan Morgan I would certainly be interested to see the internal mechanism too. Can only speculate upon it’s usage though.
MadJester I will try to get a pic of the internal mechanism posted…it is a very simple looking lock on the inside…it may just prevent the knob from turning, as there does not appear to be a latch. Thank you both for your replies to my post…the support is appreciated! Sue
