I bought a home 3 years ago and it has a J & J Taylor safe in the kitchen!
Great discussion piece but it’s literally weighing down that side of the old house.
It is about 5 feet high and 4 wide. I’m guessing it weighs about a ton?
It’s in great shape except someone sadly painted the front green.
I’ve tried removing the paint and it comes off easily but it takes the orginal black and gold scrolling with it. I have taken pics and should post them but haven’t downloaded them yet.
The front inside door says:
Patented
Mar 11 04
Apr 1 98
Aug 22 85
Aug 25 75
Inside the wooden drawers there are stamps from the local bank
saying Newtonville Bank 1921.
so I’m guessing this one was made between March 11 1904 and 1921.
What is the best way to sell it?
Online? Local auction? Direct? What’s it worth approximately?
Any ideas I would love advice.
