M&W 6 lever push key pancake

I took this one in and very bad inside,levers ground and springs broken and missing. I post these because maybe the locks are interesting to some ?
Had to improvise and file down other levers and make a miller spring work. There isn’t usually any parts out there,so kinda made what i had do and the lock actually works quite well. there is arrows on some pic’s that show areas get the clearance very close. To much or not enough clearance the shackle will not stay closed or will be real hard to shut as the shackle passes the dog to lock. Also the notches might need filing in the gates so the levers will clear to unlock and lock the dog back in the shackle. These pic’s are from older phone camera,my iphone doesn’t upload at this site but maybe 1 out os 6 or 10.

there is several photos so i’ll post in sections. Not sure how many photo’s to do at one time ?

The arrows show (to me) close tolerences
one more set of prints and i’ll be done,this stuff might help someone and might not. Remember to file and check tolerances,to loose lock willnot stay shut and not enough will make shackle hard to close.

Not trying to hide the fact the lock was taken apart,some would not do this,but i like it when my locks work well At least this shows the inside working parts and the lock satisfies me.

Good stuff Nathan, it would make a great demo if you made a clear acrylic or perspex cover for it, and it’d keep all the parts in place while people operated/played about with it, plus you still retain the original cover to display alongside it.

Me thinks it was likely made by Mallory Wheeler & Co. of New Haven, CT; said to have been in business from about 1834 to 1913. Or, perhaps you already knew that!

Huw,i will make a couple of covers one just for the M&W and a couple to use while repairing these padlocks. T he holes are a little different on them,from 3 to 5 holes. When i get home,right now i’m sitting here in Vegas,doing very little and enjoying it.
