this ones considerably smaller with the Cruiser style offset bit, albeit with a different case shape. It’s got plenty of levers but it’s a real featherweight in terms of construction and tbh would have gone in the bin years ago if it wasn’t for the Chubb fish logo!

That looks the same as the one I’ve got- so it’s a 1K59, cheers Gary every day’s a school day!
Tbh the steel pressings that form the two halves of the case on these are so thin its hard to believe they’re Chubb!

Here’s another variation I had no idea existed until one appeared recently online. Only 4-lever and unusual in having the keyhole almost central in the case and no reference number on the box.

My 1931 catalogue shows a ‘medium quality’ galvanised padlock, apparently 4 lever,, with offset kh and same shape body as Huw’s, but with the kh near the bottom of the case, as normal.
2, 2½, and 3″ sizes.

Time was, when reputable makers were clear that not all their products were Best Quality! There were ‘best quality’, ‘medium quality’, and occasionally, ‘third quality’.
