Unfortunately Nicola, Bulgaria is one of the primary producers of such items aimed at the tourist industry as ‘old curiosities’ along with repro and fake cast brass, bronzes and coins.

Sorry, but I’d be amazed if an established, Bulgarian speaking reputable antiques dealer had sold it as a genuine Monastic item!
