Hi guy’s, I have just had to open a wooden chest which belonged to an an army officer and made at the time of Boer War Campaign.
The customer had locked the only key inside the chest not realising it was self locking !!!!!!.
I have posted pictures of the box lock and key. What is unusual about the key is the offset double bit on either side of the stem. The lock has two spring loaded hooks which automatically latch when lid is closed.
Any info on the make of lock and key or date would be appriciated as there are no markings on either. Would like to be able to put a rough date to both.
Many thanks
Tim
