Eagle Padlock....

Not sure if anyone have seen these padlock. As I have them for a long time as one has one key for it. My question have anyone see these key blank as they are not in Ilco catalog…..Timothy…..

The image would seem to indicate a double-bitted wafer tumbler mechanism. I searched my historical information and was unable to find anything whatever on that lock or key. What is curious is that the key view on the right has “Chicago Illinois” barely visible on the bow. As far as I know, Eagle Lock Co. was always located in Terryville, CT; from its founding in 1854 until they closed in June, 1975!

Hello Pete. Yes you are right the key does said Chicago Illinois. Also does have Eagle stamp on the key. I was thinking only if padlock was from Eagle and just maybe they make the key from Chicago Illinois. “Or” some company just make up padlock saying Eagle padlock. This was why is puzzle me about it as I never has see any blank key for it….

I took picture of three other key from Eagle Lock. Looking at the key notice is has three differ Eagle Logo on the key. The key in middle has the same Eagle Logo at the key I has post. This is why was thinking very probable the padlock was make from Eagle CO. Only if anyone else have a better guess….Timothy….

The middle and right are apparently Chicago Illinois versions while the one on the left is likely Terryville, Connecticut. That key has a “corrugated” section typical of Eagle Lock Co. keyways but also has a curious protrusion on the bottom of the blade, perhaps indicating an extra security feature of some type within the cylinder or possibly to thwart duplicating in a standard key machine? Historical Research Series #19 May 1987 by Thomas F. Hennessy shows several trademarks used by Eagle over the years, none of which match your two Chicago Illinois versions! Thus the mystery continues, see thumbnail attached.

I have one of these locks ..new in the box…lock has EAGLE in a recessed area on the front with USA under it in the same recessed area..the keys do say Chicago…..Illinois…Eagle Lock under the Eagle logo on the reverse side…it has been in my collection for quite a while..It is NIB & on the box is says:
EAGLE LOCK CORP., SCHILLER PARK, IL

Well it getting to be too mystery about it. As I always knew that Eagle lock was made in Terryville, CT. First time of this lock made in Chicago ILL. It could be very hard to know if this was copy Logo from Terryville CT or they may have make these padlock for Hardware company in Chicago Ill. I’m sure there going to be a lot of question about it and trying to make a guess of what year the padlock was make..Timothy..
