identify this rare antique key

Hi. I recently dug up an old key with my metal detector, and it looks different than any key I can find on the internet. It is cast iron, has 4 small teeth of different widths around shaft, close to handle(don’t know the technical word). Then 2 small teeth midway, on opposite sides of one another. The “handle” has no hole for a ring, and has a large letter “A” on it.I’ve attached a photo so you can see what I’m talking about. I’ve searched the internet, but can’t find anything even remotely close. Any help whatsoever will be GREATLY appreciated!

I’ve had a quick look through some of the standard reference books on keys and can see nothing like it, that would suggest that it is not a ‘key’ for a ‘lock’ but rather a tool or wrench for use in a machine or other equipment. Interesting nonetheless and it’s possible that someone will recognise it.

Thanks, oldlock! That would make sense, since noone’s seen anything like it! I love this site, and after looking at some of the posts, I think I’m going to become a collector!
