J.S.H.&Co Padlock

I recently picked up this padlock in an antique store. I took it home soaked it good and proceeded to make a key. The lock works great, however I haven’t been able to find any information on the company advertised on the lock. I have seen pictures of a total brass lock identical to mine from the Mike Mastros collection, however mine is all steel including the shackle. I believe the padlock was made by the E.T. Fraim Co, but that’s al I know at this point. If anyone has any information on who the J.S.H.& Co. was please post it here. Thanks Mark

Well this didn’t take as long as I expected. I got a reply from a collector on another site, so I’ll pass it along, Here goes, J.S.H. & Co was a hardware company. The letters stood for “Janney, Semple, Hill & Company” They were in business under this name from 1898-1960 when they went out of business. They were the largest wholesale hardware company in the northwestern US . This is one of the reasons I love collecting padlocks, especially hardware company locks, I like finding out the history on the company’s they represent. Mark
