This lock has what looks like Chinese markings on it. I would think its some kind of reproduction except for the fact that he has been dead for nearly 40 years. It is in incredible condition. I hope I posted this in the right forum. I am not a lock collector just seeking some information. We recently inherited the property so I was cleaning up some and found it. Thank you in advance for any info given!
It is a Chinese lock with a barbed spring mechanism. They are fairly common but newer models, (the last 30 years or so), don’t usually have decorative features as are present on yours. You can search here for ‘barbed spring’ and should be able to find more info.
