Help in identifying an Wrought Iron Bar Lock

I’m hoping to identify this “bar style” lock that I obtained in a antique trunk I bought. I believe it is wrought iron, and works with the “key” that is shown. I have seen a photo of a lock like this on an old steamer trunk, but did not get any identification of what it actually is. This lock would not have been for the trunk I bought, bit other old iron objects were in it.

I call this type a slider padlock. I believe it’s Asian. I have one that appears to operate in the same manner that came from Nepal (between India and China). Also, I found a picture of another similar lock that was Persian (Iranian). Sorry that I can’t be more definate, but I hope this helps a little.

Here are two photos of my lock from Nepal. Although its shape is different, the locking mechanism is identical.

Thank you for your comments. The other items in the trunk were from Nepal like Buddhist statues and such. Interesting connection.
