Help ID this lock please.

Hey folks. Was referred to this site from a facebook Metal Detecting site.

Would love any input on this old lock I found where a plantation home once stood in southern Tennessee. Lock is iron, cleaned up nice with electrolysis. Lock is roughly 3″ tall and 2″ across. Thanks again.

Pretty hard to identify in that condition. The picture you posted is of the back side of the lock, any chance you can post more pics of the front ? Can you tell if there are any words at all on the lock body or hasp ? There is a chance we might be able to identify the maker based on the dimensions and the rivet locations, but there were a lot of different manufacturers from that early period and the locks looked pretty much alike. Timothy, That’s still a picture of the back side of the lock, still not much help.

Thanks for the responses. I honestly can’t tell the difference from each side. There aren’t any markings or writing on the lock. I’ll post a pic of the other side when I get home tonight but it looks pretty much the same as the side pictured.

What ballpark time frame are y’all thinking this comes from?

Sorry Mark as you are right it back side. I just light it up a bit to see padlock better than the first one. Hoping he give the front of the lock..

W, just going by the rivet locations, I’de venture a guess that it’s a Corbin and I would guestimate it to be early 1900’s to 1930’s. What is the diameter of the lock body? Mark

The lock is 2 ¼″ diameter at the round part and nearly 3 ½″ tall.
