Iowakal As a newbie I need the forum’s help to identify an unmarked steel padlock with a knob on the reverse to open the key flap to insert the key with hollow end to go over a peg in lock. Total height including loop is 3.25 inches. Approximately 2 inches wide and 1 inch thick. Any leads much appreciated.

bbcci The lock is interesting and could have some collecting potential. Interesting enough that it might be worth trying to post some clearer pictures. I can’t make out the “knob on the reverse” through the fuzz at all. If you could, a clearer picture of the front and back please.
Iowakal Here are hopefully better pictures. First is back of lock, second is front with flap open exposing key hole. Third is side back is to the right, fourth is front with with flap closed. Last is side with flap closed. Lock on both sides looks very similar when closed. The flap on the back turns counterclock wise to open the key hole. Hope these help.
bbcci It has a Western Europen look about it Kal. I’ve seen similar looking design and style at a couple of the lock shows. Typical age was late 1700’s / early to mid. 1800’s. I’m not smart enough to know if yours fits this group but, I hope so. Could be a later Mid. East imitation. We’ll get your posting back on top and maybe get some more input.
oldbiscuit Kal, can you post some more pictures of the key? I’d like to see a end view and a good view of the bow and the bit. I to am at a loss as to age and origin, but it is a cool design none the less. Mark
