American P3 "Made in Italy"

I received 3 of these padlocks this week, keyed alike with 1 key.
Never seen anything like them before. It would be nice to find blanks so I can send 2 of the locks to fellow collectors.

The old American Lock P3 laminated steel padlock took the long obsolete American LPKB4 blank which crosses to Ilco 1041B. Also 41B Taylor, 193C Keil or 2612J Graham, all of which are also obsolete.

Thanks Pete. After posting I looked through my Ilco PDFs and sure enough, 1041B. I will see if some of the locksmiths around here have the blanks.

None of my wholesalers had Ilco 1041B but one did have LPKB4, which I ordered 10 of.
What I got is an OEM American blank, the bag is marked AMJ-CB4 and is about the size of a M10 or M11 blank.
Not sure if I ordered the wrong thing or?

American Lock CB4 is not the same as LPKB4. CB4 crosses to VR91B Ilco and was used on the American Lock B30 brass import padlock. Apparent distributor error.

But since I am in a good mood today there you go:

Y52 keyway or RH6 Abus blank (RH6 is for 6 pins though and a bit longer but mine here fits fine)

I have attached some pics as I was also able to get some of these. The cylinder is made by Cisa, probably was a cooperation from the past in order to make some cheaper laminated locks.

Also if you had paid attention you would see that my lock is a P3 and not a P4!

Oh an the P3 is a bit smaller than the P4 the P4 is 2.5 inches tall overall, the blanks however should fit in both of them.

You should ask Patrick from Commando Lock if he can maybe forward you 1-2 blanks because the also fit in nicely.

If you have any problems just let me know, my locksmith should have the RH6 in stock and since I still got your address I could send that out to you by the End of the week, would be there 5-10 days later then :8):

Y52 does not fit. This keyway is less than ¼ of an inch wide:

Here is a comparison between the key for this padlock and a Y52 blank which I have plenty of.

Pete, I am not going to bother sending these blanks back, but I will call one of the local locksmiths who probably has the right blank.

The Abus 64TI/20 has that keyway with the exact sizes you are looking for just checked it, shall I get you one 😃:? But then again, probably too short ah well we are lost again! 🙁doh):

Hi Adrian, the P4 padlock was 5-pin whereas the P3 was 4-pin. The 5-pin OEM key blank was LPKB5 whereas the 4-pin took LPKB4 which for some reason were not the same keyway in a different length. The LPKB5 crosses to Ilco 997E/Y52 Ilco and numerous others but won’t fit the P3 even if shortened.

Hey Pete,

some companies here like Abus have their own names for keyways, the one I was talking about is for a very small Titanium padlock 64TI/20 which contains 3 pins, probably too short. I will check if the 64TI/25 or 30 maybe have the same small keyway but with 4 pins, if so that blank should fit and have the right length.

I will check with my locksmith and we will see, I will probably not end up with a solution but in my opinion it is worth a try! 🙁happy):

I picked up 4 Ilco 1041B blanks on Friday at Cleveland Key. Copied my working key onto 2 of them and all is now right in the world 😃
