Hello there!

I’m very new to locks & key & collecting… brand new actually. This is my very first lock, but I do have a few other random keys here & there.

I’m wondering about this lock I have here… who made it? How old is it? Is it authentic? Where can I find more?

I’ve seen a lion head one that’s very similar & I’m interested in purchasing it. Does anyone have it? Interested in selling?

Amanda, what you have there is a true fantasy padlock. It’s not old, probably made in the late 70’s. I’ve got the Lion head one that a dear friend bought for me in 1980. He was told it came out of some castle and was used to lock the wine cellar. I accepted the lock as a gift from him very graciously, as I didn’t have the heart to tell him that it wasn’t old or rare or expensive. A person can pick these up on Ebay most any time for around $20-$30. Mark

That’s a bummer that it isn’t something super old & fantastic & rare & I totally overpaid if it’s only worth $30!! LOL!! BUT you know what? For some reason I’m just completely in love with the little thing & I’m not sorry I bought it. I do however, regret to admit that I’ve most definitely caught the lock & key bug…

If you’re ever interested in selling your lion head or know where I can find one, please let me know. =D

Amanda, You can pick up a lion head one on ebay if you just check it out once in a while. Even though mine isn’t really worth anything to me as a collectable lock, It does mean a lot to me sentimentally as my friend passed away this last fall at 95 years old. He was a great old guy who never had a bad word to say about life,ever. Mark

Okay, I absolutely understand the sentimental value there. Sorry for asking! I did however, check eBay & there are a couple there, but they’re listed for $80USD (without a key) & $120USD (with two keys). From your previous responses I feel like that’s a ridiculous price & maybe I should just keep looking?
