Hello There!
I would really appreciate to get an expert assesment of a"hopefully" old padlock from Chubb that I puchased in India. Hope it authenticity.
By shopowner in India I got information that the padlock had been sitting on an English cotton factory in South India, Madras since 1996 called Chennai. He also believed that the lock was from the early 1900s or late 1800s.
From the marking on the lock I think its from 1827 - 1877?
The manufacturer Chubb has punched the adress 57 ST PAULS CHYD in the lock.
This text is on the lock:
CHUBBS
PATENT
57 ST PAULS CHYD
LONDON
CHUBB&SON
MAKERS TO
HER MAJESTY
Some facts about the lock size:
Height: 15cm
Width: 10cm
Thicknes: 4cm
Weight: 2,3kg
Would be very interesting to hear about the authenticity and an estimated value.
And sorry for my Swedish -English
