Round or pipe keyed Scandinavian padlock

Looking for any info on this slightly different Scandi style lock. I don’t typically collect these locks, but this one caught my eye. It’s almost 4′' tall with no markings except the possibility of a small number 4 on the shoulder of the case. Would like to find out either a maker or designer name and if it’s a US lock or not? Thank you, bill

I have seen this type of key before but not on this type of padlock. I have also seen many Scandinavian padlocks but never one like this. Interesting but sadly I have no clue 🙁whew):

Sorry, I can’t tell you who made it, although it looks eerily similar in functionality to a more modern key-operated safe lock made by Sargent & Greenleaf. The whole Scandinavian lock craze lasting from the late 1800’s through the early 1900’s was certainly an American thing like all those “pancake” locks. Every major company produced some to round out their catalog offerings. It is really neat though! Thanks for sharing!

Very good points, it reminded me immediately of the LaGard 2200 as well, which is often described as a disk detainer keyed combination lock.

I’ve never seen an Abloy lock quite like that, or even as old? But I am happy to be proven wrong.

Thank you all for the input thus far. I was unfamiliar with the LaGard and have been looking for info on the history or designer of that keying system since the postings. No luck with that yet, I did send an email to their KY office on the slim hope of getting a reply. I will update you if I do.

Just check on litttle more of the lock you has as there are about 16 company that made these lock in about 1800 to about 1950. Almost all these the lock wil be in as Rectangular keyhole. I found one that was differ than the other company call Budd with Oval Keyhole. Not sure if it could be the company of your lock as I don’t have to much information on this company..Timothy..
