Antique Junkunc Combination Padlocks - Patented 1912 and 1922

Here are two of my antique Junkunc combination padlocks. Even though these padlocks are probably not as old as their patents.

Junkunc had three patents on combination locks back in the days:

US948280 - 1910 (No Specimen yet)
US1042447 - 1912 (Specimen small combination padlock)
US1404968 - 1922 (Specimen bicycle combination lock)

I have never seen a padlock that matches the earliest patent, have you?
Would be very interesting to see but probably a rare piece. I do have padlocks to the other patents now.

Here now the older Junkunc combination padlock, I have also added the oldest patent.

I find it interesting that there is an explanation on how to operate the combination padlock in the dark on the Junkunc bike combination padlock 🙁nerd):

That looks interesting. And I’m kinda curious on what kind of explanation there is on how to operate the combination.

The combination for the bike lock is 2, 20, 28. The explanation for the “blind opening” is not filled out but you could fill it out yourself just counting the clicks. Moving from one number to another produces a “click” on this particular model and you can just count them and then theoretically operate it in the dark 🙂-:

I am still curious if anyone has ever seen a padlock to the oldest patent.

I have a small early combination padlock that has 2 channel’s in the back where the shackle slides up & down..The back is NOT FLAT. I can’t recall the pat date..
I will check tomorrow as it is not here with me now……..Donnie

that should be the one from 1912 it just looks a bit different. I was watching the same one than the one you just described on Ebay, the seller said he would relist it but I have yet not seen it again…

Here is the earliest one I have, it does match one that was in a case in the lobby when Master bought the company. I found this one at a flea market and bought it for a dollar. It was packed full of dirt and muddy sand. After flushing it out it was very easy to manipulate open.

I searched for it online but could not even find a picture, maybe it never went into production?
