American Round Padlock.....

I got this padlock from a friend as this is first time to see this padlock American Padlock. This padlock was made in Mexico and have no idea of when it made or patent number. As I do know it was made for Military.

Military low security issues and this is a the newest logo. Please also see my topic on the H10 padlock where I have posted the full timeline. No one responded yet though. BBE should know when they moved their production to Mexico, this padlock is very new I have the same one here.

Everyone always misunderstands Master and American. All lock component parts are produced in Milwaukee, WI. The components are then shipped to Nogales, Son, MX where they are assembled. Assembly for American products was transferred to mexico around the same time as the parts production was moved from Crete, IL to Milwaukee. Roughly a year after the acquisition.

That lock was assembled in Nogales for around 2 years and then is was dropped from the product line.

To attach it to an object or container. Like this the padlock can hold to the chain while you do what you have to do. You do not have to “put” it somewhere.

The one that I have is close to yours except: it is ALL brass, including the shackle & on the back side above the U.S……….it reads very faintly SET & there is a 5 digit # under the U.S………it is key retaining & uses 2 balls to secure it closed.. it also has a flat side
on the shackle like the early H10’s, not a groove, but a flat cut leading up to the pocket for the ball…..The key only has ( American Lock) on 1 side & the same 5 digit code that is on the lower portion of the lock on the rear………close but not the same
