Hello Cliff,
I’m new to this forum but have been collecting padlocks for about 17 years now and here’s what I can offer you as to value.
First each of the locks you have are referred to as Smokies or Smoke House locks as a catagory for collectors. Second as you mention being found in the ground has not been a help to their condition. Third any dollar amount I apply to each is just my opinion and comes from past dealing with like locks. Please understand these are very common locks and there were quite a few made some being more rare than others.
Lock #1 - Early lock English made by the sign of the crown on the drop the other info on the drop would help better identify but looks worn off. Value $20 to $30
Lock #2 - Made by Sargent and Company S&Co split bit key, very common Value $15
Lock #3 - Unknown maker split bit key Value $15
Lock #4 - Unknown maker seems to be in better condition than the others US markings makes it a bit more collectable Value $25 to $30
Lock #5 - Mallory Wheeler and Company had this been in better condition it would probably be the better quality lock with the brass accents and design. Value if it were in good condition $40-$60 this condition $10-$15
I hope this helps and as I mentioned these are just my 2 cents worth another collector might be able to better identify and value differently. Thanks for posting them.
