Gougler Keyless Lock

I have a Gougler Keyless Lock that I believe I received while in the Navy from 1969-1973. I clearly do not have the combination, but did some research on line to see if I could find out the combination. I watched a video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASaN6SUr9n4
The gentlemen by the name of Dave gave a very nice demonstration regarding a Gougler Padlock for which he had the combination and referred to antique-locks.com twice during his presentation as a place one might be able to find out a combination to a lock they own. My lock is exactly like the one he shows in his demonstration other than it is in better condition and I have the number 6213 stamped on the shackle of the lock. Additionally, there is a 72 stamped on the side of the lock where the shackle is connected. Any assistance would be appreciated. Have a great day!

First of all, I apologize as a “newbie” for not knowing about taking pictures and the other safeguards to prevent would be thiefs from inappropriately using this site. I certainly appreciate such security. As such, I am attaching pictures of the lock. If you magnify the pictures you can see the numbers that I referred to in my original posting stamped on the padlock. If there is anything else that I need to do, please advise and thank you for your patience.

Navy, That’s all right, it’s just a rule we established on here that we all try to follow. Try this combo and let us know your results. First turn the knob left several turns until it stops. If there is no stop, turn right a couple turns to 0, then counting the clicks go R1-L9-R3. The shackle is not spring loaded, so once you have reached the last number, you’ll have to lift the shackle to open. Hope this works, Mark

Navy, I just looked at your pictures up close and it almost looks like the number on the shackle is 6218 rather than 6213. You might also want to try this combo if the first combo doesn’t work. Same sequence as before, but R8-L7-R4. Mark

I looked at the number through a magnifying glass and while it does look like an 8, it was in fact a 3. Anyhow, the combo you gave me worked to open it. I can’t thank you enough. Bless you and yours.
