eagle lock company bengal pad lock

I purchased a box of stuff at a garage sale my grandson was
Digging through it and found an eagle company padlock with the word Bengal and a figure of a Bengal tiger on the front of the lock it is in very good condition and has both keys. My grandson is very excited about it and we were both wondering if anyone knows the history of a padlock like this. We have searched the internet and haven’t found much on this exact lock at all. Any info would be great. Thanks john

Known today as ‘Poor Man Story Locks’, the type was made in order to obtain a design patent to prevent the competition from producing it. They were a form of marketing for the day, circa 1890 - 1930.

Are they of any real value, the grandson thinks he has found the goose that laid the golden egg.
I told him not to get his hopes up, and he said he wont ever get rid of any way.
