Old Eagle warded/lever padlock info please

Hello folks,

I was wondering if anybody could fill me in on this padlock. Is it lever or just warded? Approximately how old is it? Does it have any value? I am sending it to a friend and dont want him to pass/trade it on thinking it is worthless when it might not be. Would there be any harm in a gentle cleaning just to remove the surface dirt?

I would guess maybe 3-4 lever lock.

Well, according to patent diagrams it is a 5 lever mechanism.
