steel combination lock, either chrome or nickel plated, square

Hi team , I have a square combination padlock that I am trying to identify…
it is 2 ¼″ tall x 2″ wide x ½ inch thick……this is just the lock body
the total height including the shackle is 3 ½ "
The body is nickle plated? steel or chrome & weigh’s 11.5 oz
The combination wheels are brass & are cut into the body..
I can’t find on anywhere….as close as I could come is an aluminum one in Arnell’s book, but this one is steel ….the only marking’s are on the bottom

Could this be a prototype since there is only pat applied for on the lock & in my 40 years of collecting, I have never seen another like it? On Epay, or in any collector book..
I had a $200 offer for it at the Lancaster show, but the buyer was sparse on any info.

Am I to assume that this lock may have never been produced, since it had on the bottom:
pat applied for……and also SINCE I HAVE GOTTEN NO RESPONSE’S from anyone. that nobody has ever seen one like it? I know that it is not a valuable lock, but could it be that I have the only one?????????…………thank you , Donnie

Donnie, I think you might have a prototype lock. It is hard to say how many they made in prototype as it could be one or it could be 250 to see how they were going to make it. Most of the locks may not have made it thru the years or are in the bottom of drawers somewhere. Also keep in mind that a good deal of collectors are not on this forum…. yet.

Dean, I appreciate your opinion on my lock..I value your knowledge & will assume you are correct, until I find one like it with some pat. information..I running with that, THANKS
